THIS LIST SHOWS MILLIONS OF JOBS LOST, FARMS, AND BUSINESSES CLOSED AND PROPERTY ILLEGALLY SEIZED BY OUR OWN GOVERNMENT

THIS LIST SHOWS MILLIONS OF JOBS LOST, FARMS, AND BUSINESSES CLOSED AND PROPERTY ILLEGALLY SEIZED BY OUR OWN GOVERNMENT

by Judith Westerfield·

THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT IS FRIGHTENING BUSINESS OWNERS WITH MILITARISTIC  SWAT  STYLE RAIDS, CLOSING BUSINESSES,  AND ILLEGALLY  SEIZING PROPERTY ALL OVER AMERICA!!!!! CLOSING DOWN ORGANIC  FARMS, DAIRIES, PIG FARMS, ETC.  & PASSING LAWS MAKING IT ILLEGAL FOR CITIZENS TO BOARD COWS OR SHEEP!!!

MORNINGLAND DAIRY, ESTRELLA FAMILY CREAMERY, SHARON PALMERS VENTURA COUNTY FARMHOUSE, RAWSOME FOODS, TRADITIONAL FOODS WAREHOUSE, VERNON HERSHBERGER DAIRY & FARM, TRAUTMAN DAIRY FARMEVERGREEN ACRES, ORGANIC PASTURES DAIRY, RAINBOW ACRES FARM, BAKERS GREEN ACRES .

Michael Taylor, a former attorney for the US Department of Agriculture and lobbyist for Monsanto was recently appointed to a federal role as the deputy commissioner for foods at the U.S. FDA. Last year, over 300,000 organic farmers from around 60 family farms were put out of business because of Monsanto and Taylor on trumped up charges that the farmers were stealing Monsanto's GMO seeds. Birds naturally pick up seeds from one area and drop them in another.

There are many others, these are just a few to show food destroyed or confiscated and hard workings farmers and their children held at gunpoint like criminals and a loss of millions of jobs that we so desperately need.

BUSINESSES ALL OVER AMERICA ARE BEING SHUT DOWN IN THE SAME MANNER WITH SWAT TEAMS. LISTED BELOW ARE JUST A FEW.
“I MANAGED A BUSINESS COMPLEX AND THE GOVERNMENT WAS THERE ALMOST DAILY HARASSING BUSINESSES."

GIBSON GUITAR: (told by agents they should be paying India to do the finish on their wood not Americans and after closing them down and confiscating their inventory 3 times were told if they moved their operations to Madagascar the government would not bother them again! Never charged, did everything by the book!) , GREAT BROOK FARM ICE CREAM STAND & DAIRY: (He redecorated and was shut down by a swat team putting himself and 14 other employees out of work), CENTRAL RADIO COMPANY: (Federal Government declared Eminent Domain to take over his property for a mall. After 75 years in business, with over 140 employees)! RICK REESE GUN SHOP: (A task force led by Homeland Security Investigations – including hundreds of federal, state, county and local officers, helicopters, armored personnel carriers and numerous police cruisers – stormed the Reese property where the store and the Reese home is located. Officers broke into the store and the basement storage space where they confiscated the store’s inventory, hundreds of guns, almost 2 million rounds of ammunition and more than a dozen empty gun safes. Officers also broke into the Reese home and seized firearms, jewelry, cash and a coin collection Rick Reese had been building since he was a young boy.  Vehicles, bank accounts and real estate were also seized), ILLINOIS GUN WORKS:  (OSHA issued a citation, along with a proposed fine of $111,000 Among the “violations” noted in the citation: An instructor on the range wore Howard Leight Impact Sport Electronic Earmuffs, which allegedly provided insufficient noise protection. Another violation: “A gun range instructor conducting shooter instruction was observed reaching down on the range floor to collect a loaded handgun cartridge. The employee was not wearing any hand protection such as gloves.

KEYSTONE PIPELINE: "TENS OF THOUSANDS" OF JOBS-TO CHINA NOT THE U.S.!!! When President Barack Obama blocked the Keystone Pipeline, Republicans said the move would encourage Canada to pursue oil deals with China instead of the United States and cede a massive chunk of North American oil assets to the communist nation. Now, China’s state-run oil company CNOOC is poised to cut a $15.1 billion deal–the largest ever foreign acquisition for a Chinese company–with Canadian oil company Nexen. How many jobs and resources were lost because of this assault to our livelihood???

CALIFORNIA SMELT FISH:  California's Central Valley is considered by many to be the richest and most productive farmland in the nation. At least 300,000 jobs have been lost because of a minnow called the delta smelt. Recently, it has landed on the endangered species list, causing a federal court to shut down vital pumps to farmers to help preserve this little fish protected by theEndangered Species Act. Now hundreds of citizens are starving and vast amounts of food has been lost.

BRIDGE WORK:  THOUSANDS OF JOBS & DOLLARS –TO CHINA NOT THE U.S.
TEXAS:  $5 BILLION  (Obama contracted the job to China. I-635 is being rebuilt with underground tolls from I-35 to I-45).
NEW YORK:  $400 MILLION  (Obama contracted the job to China. The Alexander Hamilton Bridge).
CALIFORNIA:   $7.2 BILLION  (Obama contracted the job to China. Bridge to connect San Francisco & Oakland).
ALASKA:  $190  MILLION (Obama contracted the job to China).

OUTSOURCED VETERANS JOBS: Under the Obama Administration, the illegal outsourcing of entry-level VA jobs has become more prevalent. The VA hires more veterans than any other federal agency except the Department of Defense. However, according to the American Federation of Government Employees (AFGE), the AFL-CIO union that represents over 205,000 VA employees, the agency continues to violate federal law by contracting out work that has been traditionally performed by veterans.

GOVERNMENT  JOBS OUTSOURCED:  Currently, about 40 state governments are outsourcing government jobs like issuing welfare checks and food stamps throughoverseas call centers.

NORTH AMERICAN FREE TRADE AGREEMENT:  Since the (NAFTA) was signed in 1993, the rise in the U.S. trade deficit with Canada and Mexico through 2002 has caused the displacement of production that supported 879,280 U.S. jobs. Most of those lost jobs were high-wage positions in manufacturing industries. The loss of these jobs is just the most visible tip of NAFTA’s impact on the U.S. economy. More than 1.3 million additional Western jobs will vanish by 2014 due to "the accelerated movement of work to India and other offshore locations.
GULF OIL SPILL:  Cumberland Advisers, a Sarasota, Florida-based investment advisory firm, has projected that the “Gulf Oil” spill will cost 1 million permanent jobs in the next five years.

CASH FOR CLUNKERS:  The governments “Cash For Clunkers” program was the cause of hundredsof car dealers to go out of business waiting for payment from the government. Under the program, people who scrap their gas guzzlers can get a voucher worth up to $4,500 toward a new, more fuel-efficient vehicle. Dealers essentially front the money for the cash incentive with the understanding that the government will reimburse them once they file the necessary paperwork online and the deal is approved. The rules assured that participating dealers will be reimbursed within ten days, but that just didn’t happen. Under this program 2,200 Auto Dealerships closed and in excess of 120,000 jobs were lost.

U.S. JOBS OUTSOURCED: U.S. jobs are lost as a direct result of overseas outsourcing. Forrester Research estimates that 3.3 MILLION white collar jobs will be outsourced by the year 2015 (Drezner, 2004).

INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY ASSOCIATION OF AMERICA:  which represents the likes of Time Warner, Dell, KPMG LLP, Merrill Lynch, Microsoft, PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP and Verizon. Since 2000, more than 2 MILLION jobs have been lost to countries like India and Mexico, where labor is cheaper.

TRADE WITH CHINA COST U.S. 2.7 MILLION JOBS: Since China entered the World Trade Organization in 2001, the massive increase in Chinese exports to America and China’s unfair trade practices have cost Americans more than 2.7 million jobs, according to a new report. “The growing trade deficit with China has been a prime contributor to the crisis in U.S. manufacturing employment,” states the report from the Economic Policy Institute. U.S. imports from China have soared from $102 billion in 2001 to $398.5 billion last year. Meanwhile American exports to China have grown from $18 billion in 2001 to $96.9 billion in 2011, producing a trade deficit last year of more than $300 billion.

Eminent domain rule could take his business - Central Radio Company NORFOLK, Va. Over 100 employees and in business 75 years, with 50 years on 39th street and Hampton Boulevard; fixing communication systems for the Navy for decades, but now Old Dominion University, through the Norfolk Redevelopment Housing Authority (NRHA), wants the property on 39th Street for retail shopping. Bob Wilson, owner of Central Radio, will begin to fight in court to keep his business. The timing of the court battle coincides with a new Virginia law that takes effect on July 1: You cannot take property that is not blighted. So NRHA and ODU want to begin the eminent domain case to take a Norfolk business before that deadline.

Reese Gun Shop: Rick Reese and his family ran a gun shop outside of Deming, N.M., for more than 17 years. A task force led by Homeland Security Investigations – including hundreds of federal, state, county and local officers, helicopters, armored personnel carriers and numerous police cruisers – stormed the Reese property where the store and the Reese home is located. Vehicles, bank accounts and real estate were also seized. Federal prosecutors initiated forfeiture proceedings last December in an effort to make the seizures permanent before the family even went to trial, which locked up most of the family’s assets leaving them with little means to pay for legal assistance to fight the charges and the forfeiture efforts. All of this happened to the backdrop of breaking news about agents of the ATF and Department of Justice instructing firearms dealers to sell large numbers of guns and ammunition to known Mexican arms traffickers in an operation called “Fast and Furious.” In all, about 2,000 guns were allowed to “walk” out of federal control or monitoring, and most of them ended up in the hands of criminals in Mexico. U.S. Attorney Ken Gonzales declared: “This case serves to put firearms dealers on notice that they will be held accountable for any failure to comply with federal firearms laws.” Observers who have been following the “Fast and Furious” debacle, which has led to a “contempt of Congress” charge against Attorney General Eric Holder – yet led to no serious personnel actions against those responsible, much less criminal charges – marveled that U.S. Attorney Gonzales could make that statement with a straight face. Absent an accounting for “Fast and Furious, ”aggressively going after gun dealers whose primary crimes appear to have been either paperwork errors or a lack of a psychic ability to read a buyer’s mind is an outrage.” There is a provision in federal law specifically designed to protect gun dealers from having their inventory confiscated. That protection was included in the 1986 Firearms Owners Protection Act, or FOPA. The Reese family lawyers filed a motion for the trial judge to enforce those protections, but he rejected the motion. After almost a year in jail and a three-week trial, a jury has declared the members of the Reese family not guilty on 24 of the 28 counts against them.

ILLINOIS GUN WORKS:  The federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration  issued a citation, along with a proposed fine of $111,000 fine (OSHA), against Illinois Gun Works–a gun store and gunsmith business which has a shooting range and teaches safety classes. Many of alleged OSHA violations at the safety training range involved noise exposure for the instructors. Among OSHA’s suggestions were to eliminate training in “larger caliber” handguns such as “9 mm Luger and/or .45 Colt”  and substitute “handguns of smaller caliber,” such as .22LR. And “Prohibition of any shotguns and/or rifles firing in the firing range.” (p. 6). In other words, eliminate training for all firearms except those which are least likely to have the stopping power to be effective for self-defense. And ensure that the range can never provide students with personal instruction in the use of the firearms which constitute the vast majority of firearms which people actually own. Among the “violations” noted in the citation: An instructor on the range wore Howard Leight Impact Sport Electronic Earmuffs, which allegedly provided insufficient noise protection. Another violation: “A gun range instructor conducting shooter instruction was observed reaching down on the range floor to collect a loaded handgun cartridge. The employee was not wearing any hand protection such as gloves.

The Great Gibson Guitar Raid: Months Later, Still No Charges Filed - "They...come in with weapons, they seized a half-million dollars worth of property, they shut our factory down, and they have not charged us with anything," says Gibson Guitars CEO Henry Juszkiewicz, referring to the August 2011 raid on his Nashville and Memphis factories by agents from the Departments of Homeland Security and Fish & Wildlife. At issue is whether the wood was the correct level of thickness and finish before being exported from India. They were told after three raids that if they move their operation to Madagascar they would be left alone.

bacon-wrapped pork tenderloin medallions

bacon-wrapped pork tenderloin medallions

bacon-wrapped pork tenderloin medallions

copy-of-img_8222I almost never serve meals that consist of a meat, a starch, and a vegetable. This was never a conscious decision on my part; it was more of a slow realization. I’ve not sure why I don’t, but I think it’s because they’re usually more work. I tend to save meat-starch-vegetable meals for the weekend when I have more time. And when I do, I find it’s best to wrap the meat in bacon.
copy-of-img_8213
Okay, so this is the only meat I’ve ever wrapped in bacon. But I can’t deny that it made for some tasty pork tenderloin. Bacon makes everything better.
copy-of-img_8217
The recipe is not difficult at all. It only has a few ingredients, so it’s kept very simple. The only time consuming step was wrapping the bacon around the pork tenderloin medallions, but it takes less than a minute per medallion, and if you were serving this for guests, I don’t see any reason why that couldn’t be done ahead of time.
copy-of-img_8227
The tenderloin was, unsurprisingly as it’s wrapped in bacon, very good. However, next time I think I’ll brine it before cooking it, as maybe it was a little dry. (I might have overcooked it though – cooking big chunks of meat is probably my weakest skill in the kitchen.) The recipe is supposed to be served with a pan sauce, but somehow I missed that until too late.  I didn’t miss it.
copy-of-img_8234
Bacon-Wrapped Pork Tenderloin Medallions (from Cooks Illustrated)
CI note: We prefer natural to enhanced pork (pork that has been injected with a salt solution to increase moistness and flavor), though both will work in this recipe. Begin checking the doneness of smaller medallions 1 or 2 minutes early; they may need to be taken out of the pan a little sooner.
12-14 slices bacon (1 slice for each pork medallion)
2 pork tenderloins (1 to 1¼ pounds each), trimmed of fat and silver skin, cut crosswise into 1½-inch pieces; thinner end pieces scored and folded
Kosher salt and ground black pepper
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
1. Place bacon slices, slightly overlapping, in microwave-safe pie plate and cover with plastic wrap. Cook in microwave on high power until slices shrink and release about 1/2 cup fat but are neither browned nor crisp, 1 to 3 minutes. Transfer bacon to paper towels until cool, 2 to 3 minutes.
2. Wrap each piece of pork with 1 slice bacon and secure with 2 toothpicks where ends of bacon strip overlap, inserting toothpicks on angle and gently pushing them through to other side.
3. Season pork with pepper. Heat oil in 12-inch skillet over medium-high heat until shimmering. Add pork cut side down and cook, without moving pieces, until well-browned, 3 to 5 minutes. Turn pork and brown on second side, 3 to 5 minutes more. Reduce heat to medium. Using tongs, stand each piece on its side and cook, turning pieces as necessary, until sides are well browned and internal temperature registers 145 to 150 degrees on instant-read thermometer, 8 to 14 minutes. Transfer pork to platter and tent lightly with foil; let rest 5 minutes, then serve.

What a Knockout…Bacon Wrapped Pineapple!

What a Knockout…Bacon Wrapped Pineapple!

What a Knockout…Bacon Wrapped Pineapple!

by ZESTY · 45 COMMENTS
Happy Monday and thanks you so much for your support on both the shirt slogan and the idea.  I greatly appreciate it!  I hope you had an awesome weekend as I know I did.  The weather was great and we were able to get some things done outside (Christmas lights taken down, some of the flower beds weeded).  I also got a little bit of shopping in, did some visiting and attended the annual home show.  In addition to this, I did some weekly planning for zestycook.com both post and food wise for the week.
bacon_wrapped_pineapple_5
Now take a look at this – bacon wrapped pineapple topped with a homemade barbecue sauce. Talk about a killer appetizer.  When I made this dish the last couple of times, the pieces of pineapple literally flew out of the baking dish.  This really is a crowd favorite.
I am just guessing but I think the bacon has something to do with that.

Ingredients

  • 1 Cup ketchup
  • 1/4 Cup  brown sugar
  • 1 Tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 Tbsp. soy sauce
  • 1/8 Tsp. hot sauce
  • Salt and pepper
  • 1 (15 1/2 oz.) Can pineapple chunks, drained
  • 1 Lb. bacon, cut in half crosswise

Method

  1. Preheat oven to 400°.
  2. Combine first 5 ingredients in saucepan, stirring well. Bring to a boil, reduce heat and simmer, uncovered, 10 minutes, stirring frequently.
  3. bacon_wrapped_pineapple_1
  4. Remove from heat, set sauce aside.
  5. bacon_wrapped_pineapple_2
  6. Wrap each pineapple chunk with a piece of bacon, securing with a wooden pick.
  7. bacon_wrapped_pineapple_3
  8. Place on rack in shallow roasting pan. (Notice how I forgot the rack in this picture.  I actually took out all the pieces and added the rack.  However, leave it to me to forget to take another picture)
  9. bacon_wrapped_pineapple_4
  10. Bake at 400 degrees for 15 minutes then baste with sauce, return to oven.
  11. Bake an additional 15 minutes until bacon is cooked.
  12. Serve with sauce.
  13. bacon_wrapped_pineapple_final
  14. ENJOY!
Zesty Tip: When cooking this dish, it is essential you place the pineapple/bacon on a rack for the grease to fall through below.  If not the bacon will disintegrate off the pineapple and you will be left with just pineapple.

Zesty Clothing Update

Well it looks like “Get Zesty” is the winner of the new slogan for the clothing line.  I am going to be working on setting up the store and having all the selections ready to go shortly.  I will let you know when everything is finalized and purchases can be made.  Once everything is complete, I will kick off the clothing with a fun little giveaway of some free stuff for you.  I can’t wait to get started.
Question of the day: Have you ever tried bacon wrapped fruit before?

Easy Potato and Bacon Breakfast Casserole

We love a good breakfast casserole on the weekends and when it's the type you can make the night before and just stick it in the oven the next morning makes it even better !
I love making things like this when we have overnight guests,it makes things so much easier.
Easy Potato and Bacon Breakfast Casserole
4 c. Southern/country-style hash browns (cubes), completely thawed (if they’re not thawed, they won’t cook correctly)
1 12-oz. package bacon( I used Turkey bacon)
1 1/2 c. pepper jack cheese( I used Two cups)
1 1/2 c. cheddar cheese( I used at least To cups)
1 bunch green onions, chopped
3 eggs
1 c. milk
about 1/2 tsp. kosher salt
about 10 turns freshly ground black pepper
Begin cooking bacon. While the bacon is cooking, place the potatoes in a 9×13″ baking dish or a deep-dish 9″ pie plate. Mix the cheeses together and sprinkle it over the potatoes. When the bacon is done cooking, drain it on a paper towel and reserve 2 tablespoons of the drippings. Cook the onions in the drippings for 2-3 minutes or until they’re tender and fragrant. Spread the onions over the cheese mixture and then sprinkle everything with the crumbled bacon. Whisk together the eggs, milk, salt, and pepper and, whisking constantly, pour the egg mixture evenly over the potato mixture. Cover and refrigerate overnight or for 7-8 hours.
When ready to bake, preheat the oven to 350. Bake, uncovered, for 40-45 minutes or until the cheese is bubbly but not brown. Allow to stand for 15 minutes before cutting.
